How many commercials = torture?

Last night I watched the CBS series “Evil” episode “3 Stars” on DirecTv On Demand Channel 1002.  I noticed A LOT of commercials, so I got out my stopwatch, and timed the following segments:

Maybe 17 minutes of show + MANY commercials, before I started timing;

11 minutes of show;

10 minutes of commercials, many repeating two or more times, about 30 clips in total;

  6 minutes of show;

10 minutes of commercials, many repeating two or more times, about 30 clips in total;

5+ minutes of show (to the end).

Fast forward NOT allowed.  If that isn’t TV torture, what is?  Maybe I should drop DirecTv.

You must have "recorded" (downloaded) from CBS OnDemand instead of the live satellite channel. Check your Series Recording settings.  Live satellite channels can indeed be fast forwarded through the commercials. And, of course, there's nothing that DirecTV can do about CBS's OnDemand channels and the fact that they won't let you FF their commercials.  This is true with all TV providers, not just DirecTV.

CBS on demand is absolutely terrible with those endless commercials, I agree. Unfortunately, Directv has no control over that, that is entirely CBS doing that.

I guess if I was DirecTV, I would not want my excellent DirecTV service marred by CBS delivering torture via an On Demand Download.  I would shut off such an offensive use of DirecTV.  Yeah, I agree CBS is the i.d.i.o.t culprit here, not DirecTV.  But it still makes DirecTV look bad... not okay.

When DTV and all other providers signs the contract with the content providers it includes the On Demand servers and can't be removed so all you can do is not use it.
