I periodically get the Error 775 message informing me that my system is having trouble communicating with the satellite. But... there's nothing wrong with the picture (if I back up a few seconds, the video briefly returns) and the audio plays in the background while I stare at a message telling me t

Recent Picture Shrinkage

Recently the picture on our TV has black bars across the top and bottom of the screen so that the picture image is now smaller.  This occurs on all but two stations (Ch 2 and 9 still fill the screen).

I use the mobile app on my iPad and it used to allow you to open other apps and it would shrink down and stay on top (picture in picture?). As of today, I can no longer do that. It completely pauses the audio and video. what has changed?

Fox News channel shrinks

At least once a day Fox News, channel 360 shrinks in size. It leaves gray bars on either side. Changing channels brings back the full screen. This is the only channel it occurs on. I vaguely remember this being an issue several years ago with some channels, and it was caused by the ticker at the bot

Subchannels are only as good as who is programming them or what the programing is.  Some are worthless, some a bit better then that but some are awash in unique stuff (i.e. sports).   We'll see how this goes, especially since the FCC wants to shrink

On April 29, the San Francisco/San Jose area's NBC station aired a local baseball game until 10 PM, pre-empting two NBC shows.  Rather than moving the shows to, say, 2 AM, or airing them on an independent station, the station decided to air the shows on one of its digital subchannels.  Needless to s

I think it comes down to this, if DirecTV isn't making money off you, they're going to lock it down.  Then they'll find a way to charge more money for the feature.  I've been a DirecTV customer for years and this has been my experience.  Prices go up

Alas, UVerse has been eliminated from the AT&T website. The shutting down of the service can't be far behind. Even now, if you want new u-verse service in Columbus (and presumably, everywhere), you can't get it.  Too bad. U-verse still has the best DVR in the business.  https://www.cordcuttersnews.c
