Gemini remote doesn’t shut off Genie box

I discovered today that my new Gemini remote does not turn off the Genie box. Interestingly that the Gemini remote will turn on the genie box, but not off. I contacted DIRECTV support and they said the Gemini remote does not turn off the genie box. Interesting as it works just fine with my receiver
